Karmanos Cancer Institute

Caring for more than 6,000 new patients annually and conducting more than 700 cancer-specific scientific investigation programs and clinical trials, the Karmanos Cancer Center is among the nation’s best cancer centers, offering access to more than 100 cancer treatments that no other local hospital has.  Based in midtown Detroit, Karmanos is one of 41 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the U.S. In fact, it’s the only hospital in Michigan dedicated exclusively to fighting cancer. Through the commitment of 1,000 staff, including nearly 300 faculty members, and supported by thousands of volunteer and financial donors, Karmanos strives to prevent, detect and eradicate cancer. Our long-term partnership with the WSU School of Medicine enhances the collaboration of critical research and academics related to cancer care. To learn more visit  www.karmanos.org

Friendship Circle

Friendship Circle is a non-profit organization that provides programs and support to the families of individuals with special needs. The Friendship Circle’s unique approach brings together teenage volunteers and children with special needs for hours of fun and friendship. These shared experiences empower the children, our special friends, while enriching the lives of everyone involved. Our special friends blossom and gain the confidence they need to make the most their abilities and talents. Their teen volunteers learn the priceless value of giving, the curative power of friendship, and the vital importance of integrating children with special needs into our communities. Their parents and siblings receive much-needed respite and support from the Friendship Circle community, and all those who assist us. The Friendship Circle links volunteers, children, parents, staff, and supporters in a seamless circle of friendship that makes miracles happen every day. Gleaners Community Food Bank

For more than 35 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been “nourishing communities by feeding hungry people.” Last year, Gleaners distributed 41 million pounds of emergency food to more than 550 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties. We alleviate hunger by providing the equivalent of more than 100,000 meals per day to people who otherwise cannot afford the food they need. Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 93 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor. To learn more visit www.gcfb.org
